The long awaited night...we finally had a chance to do some shaping on our first real board! Drew and I had messed around with the test boards and gotten good results, but we were excited to see how the first live board turned out. Drew & Micah started out cutting some rails on Kat's board, and when I showed up, we discussed the best way to shape the boards. We decided on a strategy, and started sanding down the rails, keeping them flat, but bringing them down to size. We cut out three boards this way to get started, and the results are looking awesome so far! No pictures tonight, but tomorrow we'll bring the camera to capture the magic.

Following 4 East Coasters as we build our first surfboards...
What the heck?
In case you just stumbled on this site...Yes, we're probably crazy, but here's the deal: We have a crew of 4 or 5 people who love to surf, but live on an island with no real surfable waves. We drive 6hrs most weekends during surf season for one day of decent surf. The water temps here in winter hover near freezing, so we've decided to pass the surfless season by attempting to build our own boards. Our goals are to keep from going crazy with no surf, pass the time quickly until spring, and maybe even come out with a new board on the other end. Cheers and thanks for visiting!
